And now, Russell has released a statement confirming the two have decided to go their separate ways. "Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends," says the British star.
Earlier today, numerous sources close to the pair came forward to defend the couple and assert they most certainly were not thinking about divorce. According to web site TMZ, the couple were working on their numerous marital problems.
Sadly, that doesn't seem to be the case.
Russell and Katy were married just over a year ago in a lavish ceremony in India. During their time together, two star saw Katy's career flourish while Russell's floundered. From the start, the pairing was a bit unexpected. Russell, a former heroin addict and notorious womanizer seemed an odd match for the one-time Christian singer, Katy. Of her husband's spotty past, Katy told OK! Magazine: "He was a heroin addict and now he's not. He was addicted to all kinds of things and now he's not."
