John, 64, told the Los Angeles Times that Timberlake, 30, is his "number one" pick to star in the upcoming biopic about his life. You may remember JT's lip-syncing performance as a young, silk suit-wearing and bespectacled Elton in the icon's 2001 music video 'This Train Don't Stop There Anymore.' Sir Elton cited the music video appearance in his endorsement of Timberlake saying, "He played me before in a David LaChapelle video and it was superb."
But Justin won't be expected to be spot-on with his 'Rocket Man' impersonation, as the film will not be entirely fact-based. Elton explains, "It's going to be a surreal look at my life, and not just a factual look at my life, more in the manner of a 'Moulin Rouge'. I just don't want it to be a normal biopic because my life hasn't been like that."
In addition to the splash of surrealism, the biopic will focus on a particularly short segment of the singer's life. "It only goes up to when I go into rehab in 1990. It starts with me going into rehab and ends when I come out," Elton revealed.
