Kelly Clarkson, Ron Paul Endorsement Aftermath: Backed by Blake Shelton, Album Sales Surge

AP | FilmMagic

As reported by The Boot, country star and 'The Voice' coach Blake Shelton would go to blows for Kelly Clarkson, literally. Shelton has come to the defense of the 'Mr. Know It All' singer after she caused a stir upon announcing her support of Texas Congressman Ron Paul for the Republican Presidential nomination.

"I love Ron Paul," Kelly wrote on her WhoSay account. "I liked him a lot during the last Republican [sic] nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012, he's got my vote. Too bad he probably won't."

After her Twitter account was inundated with opinions opposing her position, Blake came to her defense, tweeting, "I love you!!!! I'll listen to your view points anytime. And I really wouldn't mind throat punching someone for you either!!" To which she promptly replied, "Thanks," with a smiley face.

Later that day, Kelly took to her WhoSay account once more to address the controversy. "Man my eyes have been opened to so much hate tonight," she wrote. "If y'all ever disagree with something I say please don't feel the need to attack me. I will listen to what you say and any articles or viewpoints you have when you say it with respect. Being hateful is not a healthy way to get people to see or hear you. I was raised to respect people and their decisions and beliefs and I hope you will grant me the same decency. If you don't agree with me simply unfollow me. It's really that easy. I hope you don't because I would love the chance to hear what you have to say but if you're so blinded by hate you can't seek peace and progress then that is your unfortunate prerogative."

Although it looks like Kelly gets the last laugh, since her record sales shot up more than 440 percent in the wake of the political controversy. In fact, her latest album, 'Stronger,' went from No. 38 to No. 7 on Amazon's sales list.

In other news, Kelly spent New Year's Eve in Oklahoma with Mr. Shelton and his wife, Miranda Lambert, as well as Blake's fellow 'The Voice' coach Adam Levine. See a pic of the festivities here.

Oh yeah does anyone remember what happened what happened when the "Dixie Chicks" spoke out against then President Bush and the war? Kelly Clarkson quote "Man my eyes have been opened to so much hate tonight" seems at best disingenuous at best. Because I have not heard of any radio stations banning her music. And no one in the South or in country music came to their defense or threaten to punch someone for them.

For me it's as simple as this... Ms Clarkson is entitled to have an opinion, to voice that opinion and be prepared for the FALL OUT! from voicing it! No one asked her to give it, she volunteered it! So she should have known she would get some fallout from it! She also KNEW it wasn't going to hurt career or album SALES! What's the saying" OPINIONS ARE LIKE ******** WE HAVE ONE, BUT NO WANTS TO ADMIT THEIRS REALLY STINKS!

As long as the muslim {in hiding} leaves the whitehouse I will strongly endorse anyone even one of the 3 stooges if it means this man is tossed out of our capitol in 2012. what never ceases to amaze me is the fools who see clearly his attempt to totally destory this great country with his radical agenda, the fools who continue to supprt him. The poor african americans who flocked to the polls in 2008 with promises he made to them and has not kept, continue to support this man. It is really sad when so many americans support anyone who is tyring to put race against race, and person against man stand by him in his quest to make dreams of his father a reality in this once great and united nation. 78 days of vacation,91 rounds of golf, and 69 fundraisers for the DNC and himself. this man says he feels the poor mans plight while living a lavish lifestlye at the tax payers expense. Now I will be critized here because I wont fall into this Nightmare he calls the dream. Well I am one of those poor people ,who lost his job due to this mans policies and his goverment regulations and as so many others i feel the pain of his decisions. I have not gone to the goverment seeking aid,I have found part time work here and there and wisely used my savings to make it though his rein of terror and assult on my country and yes I will survive ,not because of the goverment but because I refuse to depend on it for my day to day living.I still pay my taxes to watch it wasted on social programs,I still pay my taxes to see it used at the social services dept to give to those who sit on their rears and watch springer each day. I will survive simply because I am an ameircan and have pride in myself. I hope in 2012 I can once again have pride in my country. I will be seen as a racist from this post as will anyone else who speaks the truth here, it is not about race ,it is about a man ,in a position who has no clue about what it is to really be an ,american

Why does everyone label those attacking Kelly as liberals? Being a liberal I fully support her right to support any candidate and am glad she is willing to voice that opinion. I think Shelton's comments about punching are a little inflammatory, but who knows what kind of comments/threats she was receiving that he felt the need respond. Keep on Kelly!

Let alone any of my Fellow Americans I support everyones Right To "Freedom Of Choice and speech" Including yours :-) We can all Agree to disagree But, It should be done with respect and without Malice nor harm.. Liberals at their worst. The african american left ,because obama isa failure calls out racist to anyone that is caucasion but can easily see he is a failure. The caucasion left with no honest defense of his failed policies feel racist when even the thought of voting against him comes up because he is black. Just because the liberal citizenry can't think clearly they start the name calling and slandering. Sad.
