Jennifer Hudson: Weight Loss Made Her Unrecognizable to Son

Jennifer HudsonJoseph Llanes for AOL

After losing 80 pounds on Weight Watchers, Jennifer Hudson has never felt better. But the former 'American Idol' does admit to some strange side effects from losing those excess pounds -- like her own son not recognizing her!

In a new interview with Good Housekeeping, Hudson opens up about the unusual situation. "He's never known me overweight," Jennifer says of her son David. "If he sees a clip of the old Jennifer from 'Dreamgirls,' he doesn't know who it is!"

Despite the fact that little David is confused by Jennifer's former fuller figure, he was actually the person who inspired Hudson to keep the weight off! "Everything changed the day my son was born," she says. "Motherhood brought tremendous responsibilities -- none greater than the obligation I felt to get healthy and be there for my son."

"David deserved to have a mama who could run after him without getting wounded or tired, to have a role model who could teach him to make healthy food choices," continues Hudson. "I needed him to grow up with a mama who always would be there for him by caring enough about herself to take control of her health and her eating."

Jennifer is so committed to her healthy lifestyle, that the singer is writing a weight loss memoir -- due out this year. While the inspirational book will undoubtedly help many of her fans, Jennifer's pound-shedding ways have also effected those close to her. "Over 75 of them are on Weight Watchers, and they've lost over 2,000 pounds altogether," Hudson says of her large family. "My cousin beat me - she's lost 112 pounds!"

She is cute and adorable and I think appears to be a very nice person. She did a great job in losing that weight and hope that I can do just as good as she. However, I don't like it when she sings........I know that most think she has a beautiful voice, but "screaming" to me is not singing. Sorry, not meaning to offend but my opinion only.

Even persons who have not lost weight get a kick out of showing pictures when we were younger. Many times they are not recognized.

Reading so many of these comments putting her down, not believing her, etc. amazes me. When she's heavy, put her down and insult her. Lose the weight; put her down and insult her. Are we all just bullies now no matter what?

JHud,Mariah, and Janet are full of BS. As someone who has lost about 140lbs I say whoohoo and CONGRATS for losing anyway possible. I just don't believe for a second these peeps have any connection to the product other than collecting a check. I have tried all except Nutri system and w/ the exception of some of the WW meals-It's high sodium cardboard crap! No way in hell are they eating this crap vs a personal chef whipping up real food and/or a personal trainer kicking their arse.

That's my thing as well, I am all for weight loss, no matter how you lost it, but don't lie about how you lost it, just be honest, it will inspire so many more people.

Don't care for her, if she'd be honest and say she had weight lost surgery, versus lying, i'd be happy for her, and her weight loss, but instead she's lying to people inorder to make money by saying she did it all with the help of damn weight watchers, and it's a lie. No one can loss as much as she lost, and as fast, without surgery.
