Kelly Clarkson: 'The Voice' Adds Singer to New Season's Cast

She may be the original 'American Idol,' but Kelly Clarkson still has love for other reality talent competitions. The 'Mr. Know It All' singer will reportedly be joining the cast of 'The Voice' when the new season premieres this February. According to the New York Post, Clarkson will serve as a coach and mentor to aspiring singers on country star Blake Shelton's team.

While some tongues are wagging about Kel's affiliation with a show that directly competes with the one that made her famous, it's hardly as dramatic as it seems. After all, Kel and Blake Shelton are great friends (both are managed by the same person), so teaming up for the show seemed like a natural fit.

Kelly, who's the musical guest on this weekend's 'Saturday Night Live,' is such a fan of 'The Voice,' that she hopes 'SNL' will allow her to take part in a sketch paying homage to the talent-driven show. "My skit I wanted to do was 'The Voice,'' she told Access Hollywood. "I wanted [host Charles Barkley] to be on his knees and play Cee Lo [Green] and I wanted to be Christina."

"I just love that show," continued Clarkson "So I wanted to totally make fun of it. I make fun of things I like!"

What do you think of Kelly joining 'The Voice?' Does it make you want to tune in when the show premieres this February?
