Katy Perry, Tim Tebow: Are Katy's Evangelical Parents Setting Her Up With the Christian NFL Star?

Russell Brand announced that he was divorcing Katy Perry only weeks ago, but it looks like Katy's parents already have a new man picked out for their daughter. The pop star's mom and pop are both Evangelical pastors who head up their own church, and rumor has it they're trying to set up Katy with the devoutly Christian football player Tim Tebow.

According to an OK! magazine source, Katy, 27, has mentioned how much she likes Tim, 24, on more than one occasion. "Katy's mom firmly believes the best cure for heartache is to quickly fall in love again. In her mind, Tebow is the perfect guy for her daughter. He's handsome, charming, intelligent and above all, a good Christian."

Tebow is the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos and has become a Christian poster child for NFL fans thanks to his "public displays of religion." He was born in the Philippines while his parents were on a Christian Baptist mission there, and his father is a Baptist pastor.

Following the news of Katy's split, the singer's parents spoke up about the matter before Katy did, announcing that the divorce was God's way of getting people to their church. It should come as no surprise therefore that Keith and Mary Hudson have reportedly gone as far as inviting Tim to speak at the church their daughter used to sing at in Huntington Beach, Calif. in the hopes of a run-in.

I love Katy, but Tim Tebow is a devout Christian. If it did not work out with Russell, who has a lot of the
same characteristics as Katy, how would this even be a possibility. Tebow needs a really "good" girl.
Remember - he says he is a virgin. I would think that he would want his woman to be a virgin also. I mean,
good luck with that, but Katy espouses the opposite lifestyle that Tim Tebow is attempting to have.

totally agree!! doubt the parents said the quote listed in the article..God did not cause Katy to get a divorce so people would go to thier church..news flash God created the earth and everything in it..he does not need katy perry to get a divorce to attract people....

Her parents are probably trying to get Katy to straighten up a bit and figure having a more devout bf than she is would do the trick. If the rumors are true, Katy did not like how Russell Brand continuously made fun of her family and other more devout people. And when she married him, she said she "had always wanted to marry a man of God" and (somehow) believed Russell to be that. I think she was too "good" for Russell (not that he is a bad person -and I think they loved each other- but that marrying someone w a sex addiction and a notorious wandering eye may have proved more difficult when their marriage was tested beyond its honeymoon period - esp w their tour schedules, different opinions, etc.) and maybe Tebow isn't the right fit for her either but it will prob be a breath of fresh air for now compared to being married to Russell Brand. That being said, you never really know what goes on in someone's marriage and people's public persona aren't nec the same as their private ones.
