Both E! News and Life & Style Magazine confirmed the split yesterday (Jan. 16). "They decided to end their relationship," an insider close to the couple tells L&S. "It wasn't working out and they wanted to go their separate ways. They had been having problems starting in the summer with her tour because she was on the road all the time. It put a strain on their relationship."
Although the breakup has yet to be confirmed by the couple, sources claim problems in the relationship stemmed from Avril and Brody's differing views on marriage. Ironically, it was the once-divorced Lavigne who was keen to wed again. "She wanted to settle down, but he wasn't exactly ready," reveals the insider.
But in fact, it may have been Av's close relationship with her ex-hubby Deryck Whibley that could have caused a strain between her and Brody. Since divorcing Whibley, Avril and the Sum 41 singer have remained close, even sharing intimate nights out, sans Jenner.
