Madonna Stalker Refuses Plea Deal

Madonna may have an upcoming musical comeback on her hands, what with her twelfth studio album 'M.D.N.A.' coming soon and a Super Bowl halftime show to stage. But there's one troubling distraction in her life that's casting a dark cloud on Madge's bright start to the year. The pop icon's alleged stalker Robert Linhart, 61, has refused a plea deal and will now attend a hearing, which may lead to a full-blown trial.

The retired New York firefighter faces weapons possession charges after NYPD found a knife in his fanny pack and an ice pick in his truck in two separate incidents of intruding on Madonna's Central Park West property in September 2010.

According to court documents, Linhart claimed he had every right to be outside of Madonna's home, where he wrote notes to the singer on the pavement including, "meet me please" and "tell me yes or no." Upon his arrest the stalker reportedly exclaimed, "I can be here. This is police brutality. I have a right to do this. I am not doing anything wrong."

The accused's lawyer Kevin Kitson echoed his client's sentiment, citing favoritism by the judge due to Madge's celebrity status. "The New York City Police Department in this case was a servant of the private security of Madonna doing a celebrity's bidding. If you have enough money and power, the rules are different."

Linhart is currently out of prison on $20,000 bail, but has been ordered to stay away from Madonna and her properties. He is scheduled for a Feb. 21 hearing.
