Eve 6: 'Lost & Found' Song Premiere (EXCLUSIVE Q&A)

Lisa Johnson

It's been almost 10 years since Eve 6 released their last studio album, 'It's All in Your Head' -- much to their fans' chagrin. But the band, who found fame in the '90s with their hit, 'Inside Out,' are back with a rejuvenated sound and tons of new material for their upcoming CD 'Speak in Code,' due in April. AOL Music caught up with lead singer Max Collins recently to get the details on the upcoming album as well as what he, Jon and Tony have been up to during their extended hiatus. But that's not all: Read on to hear the exclusive premiere of 'Lost & Found,' the first new track off their upcoming album.

What have you all been up to since the release of 'It's All in Your Head'?

The inordinate amount of time between records three and four was actually really important for us personally and as a band. We each did our own things for a while, various bands and projects. Eventually Tony and I hooked back up and started playing music again. Due to other obligations, Jon wasn't able to return until more recently. The time spent apart really made us appreciate what we have in this band and in each other.

Why did the band decide now was the right time to record a new album?

We wanted to wait until we got all of the pieces in place. Our guitar player Jon's return to the fold was crucial. We feel indebted to our fans because of the time spent away and really wanted to make sure we had the best possible material for this record. Once we got our team together, from management to label to producer, we really felt ready.

What have been some of the challenges you've faced during the recording of the new album?

This recording process was really inspired and gratifying. There were some disagreements and friction here and there but that's what happens when you're making music with people who care. We definitely felt the pressure of wanting to make an awesome record since we'd been away for so long but it was a positive force for us.

What's something fans need to know about the album?

I want our fans to know that this record is for them. We are tremendously grateful to them for their patience and support. We really put all of our attention and energy into doing the best work we could and we can't wait to share these songs with them.

Your fans are so stoked that you're back together. What band do you wish would reunite?

The initial idea for 'Curtain,' the first song on our new record, was to write a note from Noel to Liam Gallagher. It eventually became a more personal song but I'm going to have to say Oasis. Why can't those blokes just get along?
