While the singers have been friends for years, it was first rumored that Jordin and Jason, both 22, were cozying up as a couple in September 2011. The "smitten" singer gushed about how she and her new boo went from just friends to something more in an interview on 'Today.'
"It actually came out of left field, I've known him for a couple of years and there was never anything there. We were just being acquaintances but he just kind of came out of left field and swept me off my feet." Sparks said of her sudden sparks with Derulo, admitting, "I'm quite smitten with the guy, I must say."
The 'American Idol' champ then addressed her waning loyalty to her once-stringent chastity vows. The singer wears a purity ring as a symbol of her pledge to not have sex until her wedding day, but is finding the rule a bit more difficult to abide by these days!
"I don't wear it [purity ring] exactly everyday anymore, but I always have something there," Jordin admitted. "When I was 13 my mom spoke to me about purity and waiting for marriage and different things like that. And, you know, at the time I was like, 'Sure that's great,' but I can't say what's gonna happen a couple of months from now. People grow."
That is a big statement coming from the girl who once misguidedly implied that people who have sex before marriage are "sluts!"
