On Jan. 21, Demi posted a farewell message to her followers on Twitter, announcing her intention to step away from the site in a bid to prevent herself from getting into more "trouble." "It's for the best actually," she wrote.
Some speculated that a recent bad breakup with pre-rehab fling and post-rehab boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrama, was in part to blame for the singer's decision. "The smartest thing a woman can ever learn, is to never need a man," Demi posted quoting the tragic Marylin Monroe just a couple weeks before she went on her Twitter break.
Lovato took a time-out from her hiatus after just six days to answer fan questions in an online twitter Q&A with Seventeen magazine, and ended the Jan. 27 chat with the message "Thanks @seventeenmag and everyone for tuning into my twitterview, now back to my break. xo."
But the second break didn't last long either! Demi returned to the site on Jan. 30 to send a heartfelt birthday message to none other than Wilmer. "To the one and only @WillyVille - I only hope the world can see what an incredible man you are.. Happy Birthday Wilmer, you deserve it. :)" she wrote. The message has led to rumors that the tumultuous twosome are back on again.
Dem followed up her Wilmer tweet with a message to all those who speculated that she had returned to rehab for her mental and emotional health issues, or for substance abuse. "Don't believe the hype.... All is well!" she insisted.
