Madonna Advocate Cover Story: Diva Dishes on Gaga, Calls Britney Spears a 'Brick S--thouse'

Advocate

Madonna has never been one to hold her tongue -- a fact that has made her the iconic diva she is today. So naturally, when Madge sat down with The Advocate to discuss her upcoming CD 'M.D.N.A' and directorial debut, 'W.E.' she didn't hold back on topics such as her Gaga rivalry, Britney Spears' mass appeal and the struggles she faces as a single mom.

On the topic of Gaga, and their fight for the same gay audience, Madge says: "It seems natural, and I can see why she has a young gay following. I can see that they connect to her kind of not fitting into the conventional norm."

Madonna then continued her Gaga thought with an apparent diss against Brittney Spears' -- her former friend and Kabbalah enthusiast. "I mean, she [Gaga] is not Britney Spears. She's not built like a brick s--thouse. She seems to have had a challenging upbringing, and so I can see where she would also have that kind of connection, a symbiotic relationship with gay men."

During the course of the Advocate interview, Madge also revealed a softer side when the topic of her kids came up. "They just really want me to just be Mom and be normal, and don't show up dressed in any outlandish way," shares Madonna. "Just come to school, do the parent-teacher meetings. I can't even wear a tracksuit. That attracts attention too. You know, they don't really want to see me as a famous person or a celebrity or somebody. They don't get it right now. They think I'm a little quirky."

And like most mothers with a teen daughter, the singer admits that she and Lourdes, 15, don't always see eye-to-eye. "I'm a strict mother," Madge says. "My daughter doesn't know why I won't allow her to get everything pierced or a tattoo or dye her hair blond on the tips and pink at the roots." Interesting words coming from a woman who once walked down the street in a cone bra and little more. Oh how times have changed!

A "brick shithouse" is a compliment, not an insult. Madonna is saying that Britney comes from good stock, that she is naturally appealing.
