Leslie Carter Death: Nick Carter Skips Sister's Funeral

Leslie Carter was laid to rest over the weekend (Feb. 5) in Upstate New York in an intimate funeral attended by a small group of family members. Noticeably missing from the mourners was Leslie's older brother Nick Carter. The Backstreet Boys star was performing a solo show in Philadelphia and chose to stick to his concert commitment rather than attend his sister's funeral.

To add drama to an already tragic situation, rumors are swirling that Nick was purposefully left out of the loop by his own family members regarding the date of Leslie's service.

Leslie was found dead on Jan. 31 at age 25. While her autopsy was inconclusive, it is widely suspected that Leslie, who battled prescription drug addiction and depression, died of an overdose. Nick, 32, has spoken out about his absence from his sister's funeral, explaining to The Insider, "I wanted to be at my sister's funeral, but my family has always had a complicated dynamic."

He continued, "I love my family. I want to thank everyone for all of their compassion and support that I have received during this most difficult time. There are so many emotions for me surrounding the loss of my sister. I am trying to stay healthy, positive and focused." We're glad he's focusing on staying healthy. Like his sister, Nick has a history of substance abuse.

TMZ reportedly received the same statement from the singer. When they called Nick's stepmother, Ginger Carter, for comment on the family's alleged exclusion of Nick from the funeral, she reportedly replied, "That's not true," and immediately hung up the phone.

While Nick refused to cancel his tour as a result of Leslie's sudden passing, younger brother Aaron, 24, is taking time off from his starring role in the off-Broadway musical 'The Fantasticks' to mourn the loss. He took to his Twitter page to express his grief, writing, "The truth will reveal itself. I Love you Leslie soo very very very very very much!! virtually no words. You will always be my best friend." Earlier today (Feb. 6), he added, "My heart is completely broken.. signing off."

TMZ i trash TV.. They are vulgar and damn rude. It is time to end that show of tta has a cult SMELL!!

This so called family is a sad one.....I guess. I just can't believe if these siblings were as close as they say (or not for that matter) that Nick didnt attend her funeral service, OMG! That devestates even me... Im thinking he thought he would appear to "his fans" his loyalty to them as this "big star" that he believes he is and he would just be the greatest thing ever. He and the rest of them really are messed up/ignorant to say the least. And if it was because of family issues...who cares, all that is put aside when it comes to a tragedy like this. They have got to be the most disfunctional family ever, parents and kids. Ive heard more from both Nick & Aaron due to the death of their sister, those two have released more comments & statements of there grief ...my goodness how many can ya make to then end it with...but please give us and "our family" privacy at this time... It's so obvious that both of them are at it once again in some sort of competition with one another to see who can give the most grief stricken comments, they are making statements everyday since that poor girl passed away, they are using it as a way to get back in the public's eye, its so darn obvious and disgusting, You just wait we haven't seen the last of them by no means, each will end up on which ever talk show will have them just to have the spot light on themself, or they will attempt to start a charity for depression....something, these two take the cake. If either would be sinere on such an issue...but that isnt and will not be the case, if it were all would have been in attendance and there for one another through this. Sad Situation that they are using this for there own selfishness!

He didn't attend for his own easons.. She is gone. If she nelived in Jesus...she is saved...going to the funeral is NOT going to help the situation..Everyone deals with grief differently...They need to laeve him alone..He knows what he's dealing with...not us...fame is a pathetic short trip. Our culture nurtures the false perception that Celels are special...they are just people who have publicist...she was depressed...why?? Maybe she KNEW IT!! Sad..reality is far more harsh than cheap TMZ nonsense!!
