Katy Perry Grammy Performance 2012: Did the Diva Diss Her Ex-Hubby With Revealing New Song?

Katy Perry's 2012 Grammy performance of 'E.T.' and new single 'Part of Me' left audience members guessing after the singer appeared to suffer a complete technical meltdown midway through her set -- then seemed to reference her recent divorce from Russell Brand in a telling new tune.

Everything started off well and good with Katy belting out her extraterrestrial hit as she prowled around a blue, foggy set that, well, matched her hair pretty perfectly! Then as the song reached its crescendo, every light on the Grammy set went dark, a strange fizzle sound echoed throughout the auditorium and the backup musical track came to a screeching halt.

So did Katy suffer the ultimate Grammy nightmare? Not so fast! It appears Miss Perry was messing with all of us, in what apparently was the big "surprise" that was teased this week surrounding the diva's Grammy performance.

Once the lights came back on and the music started again, Perry launched into her newest track 'Part of Me,' -- a single off of her upcoming album re-release. Interesting, Katy changed the original lyrics, "You can keep the dog from me, I never liked him anyway," to "Keep your diamond ring/In fact, you can keep everything ... Except for me" -- leading many to speculate that the song is now an ode to her failed marriage to Russell Brand.

Katy, I get it. Thank you for all of us who have been in marriages and relationships where 'we wanted to drive off' but couldn't until.....
the light dimmed but did not go out
we were put out but we always had it within
the diamond ring was more like a noose
the bombs did not break the soul
this is the part of me
that is here today
able to write
and thank you
for being the voice
of those
some as old as I
some as young as you
who have loved those
who did not know
what loving a person
other than themself
is.
That is a part of me
that I now have back
and I am whole.
Peace.

I thought Bruno Mars was fantastic. And, of course, the Foo Fighters. Adele is the real deal, Katy Perry is just a pop confection.

Nice hair. Tip: Go to Ebay and get "simplyshelli" hair serum. It makes your hair really thick and with lots of body. Seriously. Has lots of good feedback.

She's not good enough for Russell Brand anyway, or anyone for that matter. Plus, how did she get invited when there are all these other performers who are 10x as talented (Lady Gaga not included)? I'm not bashing, I'm seriously wondering.

It would have have been funny if she came out wearing a big strap-on and calling herself "Lady KaTy."
