Whitney Houston Grammys Tribute: Jennifer Hudson Sings 'I Will Always Love You'

At tonight's 2012 Grammy Awards, there was one artist on everybody's mind -- the late Whitney Houston. As stars spoke of Whitney's legacy on the red carpet, Jennifer Hudson honored the singer with a stunning performance on the Grammys stage.

The tribute was moving, tasteful and a testament to how Houston inspired nothing but the best in an entire generation of performers. Hudson nailed a cover of Whitney's signature song, 'I Will Always Love You,' and was absolutely stunning in a black gown and voluminous curls reminiscent of Houston's '80s style.

The 'American Idol' took on the tribute solo, after Chaka Khan withdrew from the last-minute performance, stating she was too grief-stricken to step in front of the star-studded crowd. Hudson herself was overcome with emotion, as she fought back tears towards the end of her performance.

I really wish they would stop asking Jennifer Hudson to sing tributes. Whitney is an icon and should have been honored by an icon Patti Labelle, Dolly Parton, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Mariah Carey or even my girl Toni Braxton. Jennifer Hudson is not as talented as she is hyped to be and I was devastated when she was asked to sing at Michael Jackson's Memorial, again icons need proper tributes. Jennifer has not paid any dues and is totally unworthy of performing tributes until she does and improves her singing. REST PEACEFULLY WHITNEY MY DEAR AND NO ONE WILL EVER DO THAT SONG JUSTICE OTHER THAN YOU!! Jennifer, step away from microphones Hun and work on your craft. I think Fantasia would have done much better than you did and she should have been asked also.

Google JHuds BET tribute to Whitney, she brought down the house. For your information the icons that you mentioned declibed to do the tribute because it was to emotional for them, also JHud was trying hard to stay composed as it was emotional for her to. Stop being so critical, couldnt you show some class and remember it was a tribute.

hudson did NOT bring down the house, unless you're referring to her hips...the girdle could barely contain them. What was she doing when she sang words that began with the letter ;W ? She made a woffing sound as she blew a puff of air at the microphone which sounded horrible!

Jennifer Hudson did a great job, as did Paul McCartney and The Beach Boys. Nikki Minaj was disgraceful!

I happily agree with you. Love Paul McCartney and the rest. But there should be some outrage over Nikki Minaj's performance. Not cool at all.
