The very first 'American Idol,' Kelly Clarkson, is set to star on her very own reality singing competition show! The singer will join Robin Thicke, Lionel Richie and Jennifer Nettles in a search for the next singing sensation on 'Duets,' set to premiere on ABC this summer.

As the show's name implies, 'Duets' will distinguish itself from the sea of other singing competitions by featuring collaborative performances. The best part? The duets will pair a music industry hopeful with one of the show's resident superstars for the competition! Instead of sitting on a judges' panel, Kelly and and crew will head out across America to find their collab partners to perform with in front of a live studio audience.

"The simple fact that I get to go out and find two people I believe in, sing with them every week and help them accomplish their dream is an amazing thing I can't wait to be a part of," Clarkson said in a press release from ABC. Kelly knows what it's like to be in the contestants' shoes, so we're sure she'll make for an awesome mentor!

Like in any competition, there has to be a prize worth fighting for. The best duet partner will walk away with a recording contract with Hollywood Records. News of ABC's 'Duets' follows the CW's announcement about their own upcoming singing competition show 'The Star Next Door,' with Queen Latifah, Gloria Estefan and John Rich.
