Katy Perry, Russell Brand Divorce: Singer's Father Says Her Busy Schedule Was to Blame

Let's face it: When Katy Perry's marriage to Russell Brand went kaput, everyone figured it was his fault. Never mind that he did the filing -- the British comic has a history of substance abuse and womanizing, and while Katy likes to flaunt her body and shoot the occasional burst of whipped cream from her bra, she's PG-13 by comparison.

As it turns out, Katy's success was behind the couple's divorce, at least according to Keith Hudson, the singer's father. In an interview with Usmagazine.com, Hudson says his daughter's crazy work schedule took its toll on the relationship, which officially fizzled in late December.

"Her career got really busy and she did not get to see that much of Russell -- it was just one of those things," he said.

Perry famously hails from a hyper-religious household, and both of her parents are Christian pastors. They seem like unlikely Brand fans, but as Hudson told the celebrity website, he remains quite fond of his soon-to-be-former son-in-law.

"There are no hard feelings towards Russell -- I just received a text from him the other day in fact," he said. "He is a wonderful and smart guy."
