Darren Criss, 'X Factor': 'Glee' Star Reportedly Turned Down Hosting Talent Show

Darren Criss should write a book called 'How to Succeed in Entertainment by Really, Really Trying.' Over the last year, he's done the Broadway musical 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,' shot a movie with Kristen Wiig and continued starring in the TV show 'Glee.' He simply doesn't have time for anything else -- and that includes hosting 'The X Factor.'

As E! reports, the triple-threat 'Glee' star was asked to take over for Steve Jones, who, along with judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, was sacked from the singing show after season one. Unfortunately, Criss is too busy doing XYZ to commit to 'The X Factor.'

"They were after him," a source told E! "But there's no way he could have done it with everything he has going on."

So far, reps on both sides have kept mum about the story, but it seems plausible enough. 'X Factor' is quite the time drain, and with 'Glee' challenging Criss to learn the music of groups like Duran Duran, whose material he's set to perform on an upcoming episode, it's an obvious no-go. You can't phone in 'Hungry Like the Wolf.'
