Jessica Simpson premiered her new NBC competition show 'Fashion Star' with Nicole Ritchie last night (March 13), and one of the contestants already got off on the wrong foot with the mentor. The singer-turned-entrepreneur fired back at fashion industry hopeful Nicholas Bowes for a comment she considered to be sexist, and sent him packing by the end of the episode!

Simpson's critique of Bowes' menswear collection of leather jackets, denim shorts and cowboy boots did not sit well with the overly confident contestant. The Australian model-turned-designer snapped, "It's very hard to understand the girls giving advice about men's fashion."

Jessica responded to Bowes, pointing out the underlying sexism of his comment. "I'm a little bit offended. A lot a bit, actually. To talk down to a woman in this business? We're running the world right now," she said. "I really kind of want to hit you across the face right now," she confessed.

Well Jess opted not to get violent, but did give Nicholas the boot. "I wish it was just confidence and not arrogance," Simpson said of the cast-off's attitude. "I know what a buyer wants @nicholasbowes and I really hope you take everyone's advice to heart," Simpson tweeted as the episode aired. Nicholas later responded to J-Sim's tweet with a message of his own, insisting, "@JessicaSimpson: I've done my time." The tweet linked off to his official website, filled with photos of celebrities sporting his designs.

His comments and her retort where all planned just to put controversy and drama in the show. He's been in the biz long enough to know you absolutely don't make comments like this. I hate the way media fuels controversy for ratings, especially when it furthers this rift between men and woman, races, etc.

I'm surprised that her "we run the world" comment wasn't seen for the sexism it is.
