Women's History Month: Who's the Most Influential Lady in Pop Music Today (READER POLL)

Attention AOL Music readers! To celebrate Women's History Month, we here at the site will be posting our very own "March Madness" type bracket. But instead of pitting basketball team against basketball team, we're having the ladies of pop music battle it out for the top title of "Most Influential Woman in Pop."

Our fourth round grudge match features Madonna vs. Katy Perry. There's no denying that Madge is a musical icon -- her upcoming CD 'M.D.N.A' is one of the most anticipated albums so far this year. But while Miss Perry might not outrank Madonna in years, she's certainly no slouch when it comes to No. 1 hits. Perry and her 'Teenage Dream' CD came this close to beating Michael Jackson's record for most No. 1s off a single album.

Who do you think should win round four of our "Most Influential Woman in Pop" March Madness bracket? Vote below ... and check back on Friday (March 16) to see the next two divas battling it out in round five.

If someone can name at least one relevant person (or one person at all) who Katy Perry has influenced, then I'll let the fact that she won this poll slip by. If not, then this really is just laughable. Madonna was the most influential 25 years ago, and she still is today.

I think Madonna still reigns as queen of influence. She paved the way for all these ladies, especially those one who like to toy with religion too.

This article is forgetting he most talented, amazingly classy artist today - Carrie Marie Underwood. Carrie simply has the best voice in music today (maybe the best ever?) plus she has co-written her last 6 #1 songs (with GOOD GIRL being her next #1), incredible stage performer, humble, graceful, and an overalal beautify person inside in and out. With Carrie there is no drama... just untouchable, god-given talent that does not need any tricks or gimmicks to blow away an audience. Bravo Carrie.

Yeah, not the best ever. Whitney and Mariah are the best ever. And outside of country music she hasn't influenced many other artists which is what this poll was supposed to be about. But Katy Perry won instead...
