''We were drinking in Mahiki and Katy was dancing nearby. She ran up to me, saying 'Don't do it! Don't get married!'" Cooney claimed. She went on to reveal that Katy quickly revoked her cynical statement. ''I said, 'I'd thought you'd say that!' She suddenly caught herself and said, 'No, really ... congratulations.' She chatted to me for about 10 minutes. Katy was really, really sweet. She wished me luck.''
According to another eye witness, Katy was enjoying herself at the London hot spot, but was weary of a potential Russell run-in on his home turf. ''She wanted to spend the night singing in the room as it's where her best friend Rihanna normally comes to play when she's in town. Katy was having a great night but bolted out of the door when one of her sidekicks stunned her by telling her Russ was about to turn up," the source reported.
''Rather than risk an awkward run-in, Katy didn't take any chances and ordered everyone to move on to a club in Chelsea instead," the source added.
