One Direction: 'Up All Night' Album Debuts at No.1, UK Boy Band Sets New Record

British boy band One Direction has made Billboard chart history in the U.S. with their debut album 'Up All Night.' The record shot straight to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, making the boys the first ever British group to debut at the top of the list!

The 'X Factor' U.K. finalists sold 176,000 units in their opening week. As predicted by former 'X Factor' U.K., and current 'X Factor' U.S., judge Simon Cowell, the pop band is taking the states by storm! The last Brit group act to claim the top spot stateside was the Spice Girls' 1996 debut 'Spice,' thought it took them a long 14 weeks to get there!

One Direction's lead single 'What Makes You Beautiful' entered the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart at No. 28 last month (Feb. 12), the highest entry for a British group's debut single since the Spice Girls' 'Wannabe' in 1997. 'What Makes You Beautiful' currently sits at the No. 33 spot, but we suspect the song will be crawling up the chart following the success of the band's album.
