The 26-year-old 'Idol' hopeful revamped her look at the advice of the show's new in-house stylist, famed American designer Tommy Hilfiger, chopping off her shoulder-length blonde hair into a bold pixie cut and dyeing it black.
The new 'do was coupled with an edgy all-black ensemble that wowed viewers and the judges as Erika took the stage to perform Billy Joel's 'New York State of Mind.' Style-savvy judge Jennifer Lopez described the new image as having a "Pat Benatar vibe," and as Randy Jackson so eloquently put it, Erika looked "hawt!" Host Ryan Seacrest put in his two cents. "Not since the Sanjaya 'ponyhawk' have we seen such a transformation with hair," he claimed, recalling eccentric Season 6 finalist Sanjaya Malakar.
