Jessie J Fan Breaks Own Leg to Be Like Idol: Inside Singer's Stalker Nightmare (REPORT)

While a fiercely loyal fan base is an asset most pop stars relish in, one Jessie J fanatic has taken her dedication to the idol way too far. The Sun reports Jessie is "frightened and upset" after an obsessive teenage girl broke her own leg in an over-the-top gesture for the singer.

Jessie J was forced to cancel her tour and spend months in a leg boot and on crutches after breaking her foot and undergoing bone-replacement surgery last year (2011). In an attempt to imitate the Brit star, an unnamed fan broke her own leg and sent photos of the injury to Jessie. The fan went on to bombarded her with a slew of disturbing messages, including, "I will do anything to be just like you."

"She's horrified this happened," a Sun source close to Jessie reported. "Jessie's a really, really sensitive and kind girl who loves keeping in touch with her fans, but this incident was just too much for her and she ended up getting really frightened and upset," the insider added. "She was sad that a fan hurt herself to look like her -- but she was also scared for her own safety."

Jessie is no stranger to the dangers of life in the public eye. She's already been the victim of death threats as a pop star on-the-rise -- even before starring as a coach on the U.K's "The Voice." "Now Jessie's on 'The Voice' and getting bigger and bigger, she knows it is time to review security and the risks to her," the source said. "She loves her fans but these things are unavoidable in this day and age. It happens to all pop stars as they become bigger. It's one of the downfalls of fame. Jessie would prefer it wasn't this way."
