"Our Christian community needs concerted action to stop young people from being infected with homosexuality and pornography," the Korean Association of Church Communication said in a statement, referring to the controversial pop star.
Gaga is an outspoken gay-rights advocate and is also known for her sexually provocative live shows, music videos and outfits. Her "Alejandro" and "Judas" music videos outraged Catholic church officials for their secularized treatment of religious themes.
The concert, to be held at Seoul's Olympic Stadium on April 27, is the Born This Way Ball tour's first stop, and it looks like the trek is already off to a shaky start. Gaga took to her Twitter page to address the concert age restriction, which was raised from an original 12 and under ban, to 18 and under. "Thank u to all the adults in Korea who are speaking out for underaged who want to come to the BTW Ball. Maybe the gov. will change their mind."
Gaga went on to insist it's up to parents, not the government to determine whether a given event is appropriate for their child. "Although not affecting ticket sales in Seoul, parents should be given more credit to determine whats good for their children. I love my fans."
According to the Korea Media Rating Board, Gaga is the fourth foreign artist be banned for minors in the country. She joins fellow rebel rousers Marilyn Manson, 50 Cent and Jay-Z.
