Madonna 'MDNA' Debuts at No. 1: Singer Scores Eighth Chart-Topping Album

Forget "Girl Gone Wild" -- Madonna has just gone to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart with her new MDNA album! The pop icon's comeback album, her first since 2008's Hard Candy, debuted at the top of the chart this week, marking Madge's eighth career album to grab the No. 1 spot!

Not only is Madonna eight for twelve in the records-going-to-No. 1 department, MDNA is now the fastest-selling debut of 2012. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the album sold 359,000 units in its first week and became the 53-year-old pop star's fifth consecutive LP to top the charts.

Despite mixed reviews and an unusually scaled-down promotional schedule, which only saw Madonna give a Facebook interview to Jimmy Fallon, Madge is back on top! According to Billboard, when it comes to No. 1 albums from female artists, Madonna is second only to Barbra Streisand, who has nine.

MDNA replaces the soundtrack for "The Hunger Games" at the top spot, and is followed by Lionel Richie's country-leaning Tuskegee.
