"It was a cheap shot," an insider told Us Weekly. "Anne didn't want it to look like he broke up with her." Allegedly, Adam, 33, had no idea they were officially over and was home in Los Angeles when Anne, 26, dumped him from New York. He "was blindsided," "The Voice" mentor's friend alleged. "Adam's heartbroken. He wasn't even fully sure they were really broken up."
Despite the singer's surprise, his friends apparently saw the end of the two-year romance coming. "Anne said he didn't pay her enough attention." Anne also allegedly took issue with her rocker beau's unwillingness to take the relationship to the next level. "As a woman, you get to a point where you want to get married," the insider explained. "Adam wasn't ready to take that step."
We guess Adam didn't like it enough to put a ring on it!
