Justin Bieber Impersonator Lee Moir Charged With Sexually Abusing Girl Online

Accused Justin Bieber impersonator Lee Moir, a 34-year-old Toronto man who pretended to be the pop star to prey on underage girls online, has been charged in Canada with luring, manufacturing child pornography and extortion.

According to CP, authorities allege he sexually abused a 12-year-old girl from New Jersey on a video chat site and "threatened to harm the girl's family to force her to perform sex acts online."

After initiating contact via Facebook, Moir used the name "Justy.Beber1" to trick the girl into posting explicit videos of herself on video-sharing site ooVoo. According to the Village Voice "after convincing the girl to make the videos -- at 'Bieber's' request -- Moir threatened to post them on Internet porn websites."

Moir was arrested earlier this month during an undercover sting operation in which a Canadian undercover officer posed as a 14-year-old girl. Moir engaged the officer in "sexual conversations and requested a meeting," at which point he was met by police.

Huffington Post reports this is not the first-time a celebrity impersonator has been arrested on child-sex charges: "In 1995, Michael Jackson impersonator Michael Johnson, then 30, of Orlando, Fla., was jailed for five years on child molestation charges. Four years later, in 1999, Elvis Presley impersonator Bobby Doty, then 25, of Elmhurst, Ill., pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual assault of a child under 16. Doty was sentenced to 20 years in prison."

Deborah Freier, assistant prosecutor for Essex County, where the victim resides, said, "This arrest highlights both the danger posed to children online as well as the best efforts of law enforcement authorities throughout the world to apprehend these child predators who exploit the wide reach and perceived anonymity of the Internet to take advantage of vulnerable children."

So while the story is shocking it's perhaps not surprising, and at least provides a good opportunity to teach children and teenagers that not everyone on the Internet is who they say they are -- especially if they say they're Justin Bieber.
