In her article, "Ashley Judd Slaps Media in the Face for Speculation Over Her 'Puffy' Appearance," the 43-year-old actress strikes back at critics of her changing facial appearance. "The conversation was pointedly nasty, gendered, and misogynistic and embodies what all girls and women in our culture, to a greater or lesser degree, endure every day, in ways both outrageous and subtle," she writes.
Judd was quick to point out that her article was not just written in her own defense, but was intended to encourage conversation about the greater implications of the media's obsession with female's looks. "The assault on our body image, the hypersexualization of girls and women and subsequent degradation of our sexuality ... is what this conversation allegedly about my face is really about."
"Thank you @AshleyJudd. This article was music to my ears," Miley tweeted after reading the piece. "Beautifully said and beyond inspiring. I hope everyone woman reads this," she added. Miley also announced that she sent Judd's article to her female friends and family in a bid to spread the word -- and the love. "Just mass texted this to all the beautiful women I love."
Miley is no stranger to the media's constant fixation on her own looks. She's recently been the victim of anorexia rumors after showing off a noticeably thinner frame. Of course, it was just last year that the teen was being labeled as fat!
