Katy Perry: New York Apartment Sells for Whopping Sum

In September 2010, Katy Perry shelled out for a posh penthouse in New York City's Tribeca neighborhood. The plan was to live there with hubby Russell Brand, but now that their marriage is kaput, the pop star has unloaded the apartment, selling it for nearly the $2.75 million asking price, the New York Post reports.

Perry paid that same amount for the property -- a two-bed, two-bath pad on North Moore Street with killer views of the city -- so in a financial sense, she's emerged from the Brand era even-Steven.

Katy also seems to be moving on in the love department as well. The "Firework" singer continues to make the scene with Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd. The pair recently took in some tunes at the Coachella festival, the Post reports, where Perry referred to the rocker as her "boyfriend."

Sounds promising -- but they might want to hold off on buying any real estate.

What does this lady do for a living? And $2.75 million for an apartment in New York hardly counts as a "whopping sum!"
