Justin Bieber, Painting Purchase: Pop Star Spends Big Bucks in New York City Art Gallery

Justin Bieber recently bid high school adieu, but before graduating, he must have taken a few art history classes. According to Hollywoodlife.com, the Canadian pop phenom recently spent $60,000 on a painting by New York City artist Holton Rower.

The Biebs snagged the costly creation -- one of Rower's drippy, trippy colorful "pour paintings" -- last week at the Hole gallery in the city's Lower East Side.

"Justin doesn't want to just spend his money on frivolous items he wants to collect things, especially for his new house," a source told the website.

When Bieber hangs his Rower -- possibly in his new L.A. mansion -- he might want to leave room for some gold and platinum records. His third studio album, Believe, drops June 19, and given the hysteria that follows the well-coiffed singer wherever he goes, it's likely to move some major units.
