As reported by The BoomBox, Whitney Houston's mother, Cissy, has signed a deal with HarperCollins to release a book about her late daughter, Contact Music reports. Due out next February -- the one-year anniversary of the singer's death -- the memoir will offer what the elder Houston calls "a deeper understanding" into the troubled diva's "true story."

"When I lost my daughter ... the world lost one of the most beautiful voices and an extraordinarily beautiful and charitable woman," Cissy said in a statement. "In sharing our story in this book, I hope to give her fans something to treasure, the way we all treasured Whitney."

As a representative for the publisher told the Washington Post, Cissy will go "behind the headlines" and offer a candid look at Whitney's life and career.

"She will tell the unabridged and unbelievable story of her daughter's life as well as her own, addressing Whitney's brightest and darkest moments while helping fans around the world understand the complexities of this extraordinary star who died much too soon," the rep said.

Cissy already published a book, How Sweet the Sound, in 1998, and earlier this year, reports surfaced that she was shopping a Whitney tell-all to publishers.

"She [Houston] said, 'There are so many lies out there and I want to dispel all of those lies,'" Cissy told publishing execs, according to a New York Times source.
