Michael Jackson, 'Don't Be Messin' 'Round': Late Icon's Unreleased Demo Surfaces (LISTEN)

As reported by Spinner, though Michael Jackson is no longer with us, he left behind a treasure trove of demos that we'll probably be hearing for years to come. According to The Atlantic, an unreleased B-side demo from the King of Pop has surfaced online. "Don't Be Messin' 'Round" is a piano-heavy track from Jackson's Bad era.

The song features a carefully crafted samba, full of spoon clicks and whirling synth, though the track is devoid of the big time production value that the rest of Bad possesses -- and that's probably why it never made it onto the album.

"Don't Be Messin' 'Round" was released in conjunction with the anniversary album Bad 25, due out later this year.

Love the song. It shows Michael Jackson in his element during the creative process. He also plays piano on this track. It is a fun and effervescent song that just stays in your head. Your statement "though the track is devoid of the big time production value that the rest of Bad possesses -- and that's probably why it never made it onto the album" is a little silly. It is a demo and therefore is not finished which clearly means the "big time production value" is not present in this state. The song was actually begun during the Thriller years, then worked on again during the BAD era and then again later. The song was released last week in its 1986-1987 state to coincide with the "BAD 25" promotion. Had Jackson deemed that it would go on the BAD album it would have been completed. I agree with corlista...another great MJ tune.
