Katy Perry Divorce Confession: 'I Went Through Some Pretty Tough Times'

Amidst reports that Katy Perry's next album will be her darkest material yet -- thanks to a whirlwind marriage that came crashing and burning down after just 14 short months -- Katy is opening up about hitting rock bottom. In an interview with U.K. talk show host Graham Norton, the "Part of Me" singer revealed how she fought to keep a smile on her face, at least in front of her fans, throughout the breakdown of her marriage to actor Russell Brand.

"I love being on stage and even though I went through some pretty tough times last year I had to separate that," the performer confessed. Katy was on the road for most of her marriage, performing night after night on her 2011 California Dreams world tour. When her marriage started to crumble, she knew she had to fake it for the sold-out crowds.

"I know my problems are my problems and they are not the audience's problems," Perry explained. "They are here to see a show and to be entertained, so I got on that lift, put a smile on my face and went up [on stage] with my t--s spinning!" That's the spirit, Katy! We knew those crazy stage costumes were good for something.

I thought they were a really cute couple.
I guess she put her career a lot higher on the list than her marriage.
To be honest I remember people asking Russell where she were.
I hope he finds someone wonderful that will make time for him.

I love and him and beating up Russell cause she was upset over her marraige failing, honey you went on nonstop touring, they interviewed him for months asking where's the wife? YOU had a part in the failing by not making time for your new life. I wouldn't have waited around twiddling my thumbs either.
