After revealing she turned down a role in the Oscar nominated-film "The Help," Katy Perry may be up for another big-time movie gig. According to The Mirror, the pop star is in talks to play Mary Austin, the girlfriend of former Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, in an upcoming biopic about the late rock legend (who happens to be one of Perry's personal idols).

"Katy would love to be in the film as she is such a huge fan," a source told the publication. "She would want to play Mary Austin ideally," the insider added of the 27-year-old singer.

The dream role would place Katy opposite Sacha Baron Cohen, who is reportedly set to play the flamboyant rock star in the Graham King-produced flick. "Katy has a similar look to Mary and would be a brilliant foil to Sacha," the source said. The Oscar-winning director of "The Queen," Stephen Frears, has allegedly been tipped to lead the biopic.

Freddie and Mary dated for about six years, starting in the early '70s before Queen hit the big time. They went their separate ways after Freddie had an affair with a male record label executive and came out as a bisexual. The former couple remained close friends until Mercury died of AIDS-related pneumonia in 1991.
