"This isn't about my dad," Sophie said. "This is my audition."
Then again, as the Hollywood Reporter points out, Sophie did show up with her father -- who doubles as her co-star on the reality series "Gene Simmons: Family Jewels" -- in tow. According to the Mail, however, Sophie didn't tell her parents about the audition until the last minute, and when he learned of her plans, Gene insisted on hopping a plane from Las Vegas to provide moral support.
"We think she's the most talented, wonderful, charming daughter but we just want her to get want a fair shot," said Gene, according to the U.K. newspaper.
It's not yet known whether judges Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato liked Sophie's performance enough to send her through to the second round, but if she did advance, it's apparently not because of her fire-spitting father's superstar status.
"The judges made it clear to Sophie and her dad that she'd be auditioned just like any other contestant -- that's what everyone wanted -- and she was," a source told the Daily Mail.
