The video begins with Dobrev receiving a "Lotion Music" cassette. From there Dobrev and actor Nick Braun (Red State, Prom) rap throughout the nearly three-minute song.
"Summer summer summer always gets me very nervous, because the largest organ on my body is my epidermis," Braun raps before Dobrev sings "All I need is my SPF."
"I'm tan because I'm Bulgarian," Dobrev says while images of the beach and people lathering up with suntan lotion are shown.
The song also repeatedly refers to singer/actor Will Smith for some reason. "Like Fresh Prince needed Jazzy Jeff, all I need is my SPF," Braun sings with an image of a young Smith appearing in the clouds. Smith's films, including Wild Wild West, Hancock and The Pursuit of Happyness are also name-dropped.
"The sun is like a drug, I love my complexion so I gotta use protection, I'm not talking about Trojan, it's not a secret potion," Dobrev raps as she is shown coating herself in lotion.
The video concludes with Dobrev's SPF acting as a barrier to the sun's rays, reflecting off her and disintegrating her friends nearby on the beach.
"I love you Will," Dobrev says at the video's end wearing shackles on her wrists.
"Happy 4th of July!!" Dobrev tweeted on Tuesday with a link to the video. "And to make sure everyone is protected, gotta remind you that all you need is SPF!!!"
