Amid the backlash stemming from her new fur controversy, Lady Gaga has opened up to fans about her challenging year. In a candid message posted on her social media network, Littlemonsters.com, the pop star reveals her more vulnerable side, discussing her recent struggles with body-image issues, shocking friend betrayals, rip-off allegations and spats with her record label and creative collaborators.

In two posts, titled, "A letter to my sweet fans" and "Then there were all the personal struggles," Mother monster confesses, "The past year was a challenge ... I felt in chains at times." She points to her creative struggles as an artist first, saying, "Whether is be the record label disagreeing with me on single choices, or directors who could only create an idea of 'gaga' or what i've 'done before' and not able to move forward."

Gaga then mentions what we can only assume are the ongoing allegations that she borrowed heavily from Madonna's 1989 classic "Express Yourself" to create her own 2011 anthem "Born This Way."

"There was also of course the incessant dragging of the most important single of my career in dead-beaten-horse-mud." Madonna herself has revived the feud in interviews and onstage multiple times since the comparisons first started.

"Then there were all the personal moments," Gaga continues. "Betrayed by lifelong friends, mentors I've had for years suddenly taking advantage of me," the "Judas" singer reveals. The pop star, who has previously revealed her past struggles with bulimia, added, "And a massive struggles [sic] with my body image ... I continue to be challenged with my body image."

"I've grown and left most of these things behind, the monsters of fame are very real," she warns.
