John Mayer: Throat Surgery Leaves Singer 'Silent,' Under Six-Month Singing Ban

John Mayer has entered what he previously described as a "six-month period of extreme self-discipline." After cancelling his entire tour back in March, the singer has finally undergone surgery to remove a granuloma from his vocal cords.

"Well, here I am," John wrote on his official Tumblr blog following the Aug. 27 procedure. "Silent for the next few months, no singing for probably six, but all signs point to this being the last step in getting to perform again," The Born and Raised creator explained.

This is Mayer's second debilitating throat operation in just over a year. Last October (2011), the singer underwent surgery to remove a first granuloma.

Mayer revealed how he will be communicating in the coming months, writing, "Back to notebooks and iPad to communicate for the time being. Zen living at its finest... so if you see me out and about and I don't answer you when you say hello, I'm not ignoring you. Promise."

John goes on to reassure his fans that he'll do his best to not leave them hanging during his recovery period. "I'll try and post more on here," he said. "But I've gotten really good at keeping my thoughts to myself and I don't exactly see anybody starving for my take on things. But it might be fun to offer some kind of window into this very odd and slightly beautiful time."

Ah, 6 months where we won't have to read about some ignorant thing that came out of his mouth.

So the AOL headline is: Singer Can't Perform for Six Months.

Thank God, all the virginal Hollywood starlets are safe from his shenanigans until March..

Anything that keeps his big mouth shut is a good thing.
(Maybe six months is enough time for him to grow a filter)

Does these mean we have 6 months of not hearing the stupid **** that comes out of his mouth, and I am not talking about his singing?

I'm surprised that the surgery wasn't to reattatch his (ahem) "nether regions", after they'd fallen off from all of that promiscuity. He's not a very nice guy (IMO)......Belt notch Johnny better work on being a better man as he recovers. Maybe this will give him a little time to reflect on his life and hope that karma is a little kinder in the future.
