"[I was] extremely nervous," she confessed in the latest issue of Elle magazine. "I was having panic attack after panic attack."
Well if Brit Brit was already feeling the pressure on her first day, a new development in the "X Factor" vs. "The Voice" rivalry may only make things worse. "X Factor" boss Simon Cowell is fuming over a last-minute network decision to add a third episode of "The Voice" to next week's Wednesday night (Sept. 12) lineup on NBC -- during the exact time "X Factor" is set to premiere on FOX. And the plot thickens.
The first two episodes of "The Voice" will air Monday and Tuesday night and NBC had previously scheduled "America's Got Talent" for the Wednesday night slot.
"This is a cynical, cold-hearted, unprofessional way of doing business," Simon told TMZ of NBC's surprise move. "These guys have really got it in for us. It's nothing short of dirty tricks," he added.
Simon seemed particularly concerned that the move is playing off the long-lived Britney vs. Christina Aguilera rivalry. Xtina is, of course, the star judge/coach on "The Voice." "Britney's not going to appreciate the fact that Christina -- who has been a bit of a rival -- isn't allowing Britney to have a night of her own," he said. "She's going to be devastated because she's put her heart and soul into this."
