When Lady Gaga smoked a spliff onstage at a concert in Amsterdam earlier this year (Sept. 12), the backlash back in the U.S.A was a bit torrential. Most irate was Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro who called Lady Gaga a "slut" and claimed the singer was glorifying drug use. Manhattan's Borough President, Scott Stringer, who is a longtime friend of Lady Gaga's family fired back, calling her a social justice activist and defending her "artistic expression." Clearly, the "Born This Way" hitmaker appreciated the comments because she tweeted thanks to him for the support.
