Justin Timberlake Charity Efforts Questioned: Shriners Hospitals Trustee Makes Shocking Statement About the Star

Justin Timberlake's charity efforts have been challenged as Las Vegas PGA Tour officials announced they were cutting ties with the star of the Justin Timberlake Shiners Hospitals for Children Open. JT's motives for hosting the annual charity golf event have been called into question, as the singer failed to actually spend time with the sick children who are the beneficiaries of the tournament.

"We're a world-class organization," tournament chairman and Shiners Hospitals trustee Raoul Frevel told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "At the time we got involved with golf, we were told by the tour we needed a big name, and that's how our relationship with Justin came about." Timberlake first teamed up with Shriners Hospitals for Children back in 2008, but it looks like this year's charity golf tournament (Oct. 4 - 7) will be the "SexyBack" singer's last.

While Justin managed to raise several millions of dollars for Shriners Hospitals through concerts at the annual tournament, Frevel admits the singer wasn't as hands-on with the young patients as they'd hoped.

"Justin's a wonderful person. But we tried everything we could to get him more involved with our kids and the hospitals. But it seemed that when the TV cameras weren't on, he disappeared."

it appears that Frevel made the comments about Justin "dissapearing" that were in the paper on Oct 2,2012 before this years tournament were based on his behavior the last 4 years..On Oct 3,2012 Justin played in the pro-am then he dissapeared again until he presentated the Trophy at 4 pm on sunday. He refused again to appear during the tournament to draw crowds, sign autographs and take photos with the children of the Hospitals. He did very little during the year to promote the tournament on the talk shows or the media Because of that"Justins" tournament was a flop because of poor attendance. I was there. He certainly is no" Bob Hope"and is an embassasment to the sport of golf. It's hard to beleive that Callaway gold would want to be associated with this character.

Justin was not a volunteer host, he made a deal with the Shriners and signed a contract outlining his obligations. He barely fulfilled those obligations and it is hardly surprising to me that an organization like the Shriners Hospitals for Children would not tolerate such behavior. What's truly "classless" is signing up with a charitable organization and then not fulfilling one's obligations to them. What he's done is the eqivalent of agreeing to do a world tour, showing up for every concert and only playing for five minutes. I know Raoul Frevel personally, and he has spent the last 42 years working to help children. He and every other Shriner I have met are the true volunteers, and I would hardly consider Justin and his actions to be anywhere near as much "effort" as they put in. There are other celebrities out there who actually care and can do more to help the "general public" to "associate" with the Shriners and their tournament.

So Curly likes to use sick kids as a stepping stool.....What a piece of work. Now the whole world knows your "TRUE" colors..

Maybe he's uncomfortable/awkward around sickly children. I know I am: I am sensitive to people and I too make monetary donations to charities (certainly not to the extend that celebrities do). But I do not, would not volunteer at hospitals or shelters because it woud be too much for me. So in addition to being a singer--and an actor with a busy schedule, maybe--just maybe he has his own reasons for not spending time with kids/people who are ill. That's the problem with our culture--jumping to conclusions.

I think Shriners is looking at this one-sided- exactly how much time do you think this man has with his career? I think it speaks volumes that he even took the time to perform for the charity events in the first place and raised the money that he did. He did his part. Sadly, nothing seems ever good enough for some people. They will always find fault where there was reason.

Reading some of these comments makes me very sad. Millions of $$ for research IS wonderful but if you haven't been there, please don't say it is more valuable than 5 minutes with a dying child. Ask any parent, grandparent, sibling, etc who has lost the life of a precious child; a little time means EVERYTHING.

No one is questioning that "hands on" is extremely important. I am questioning the manner in which the Shriner's handled the situation - which was tacky, low class and borderline slanderous.

This goes with the loca news reporter about the Ryder Cup. He said Justin Timberlake was supposed to be the Ambassador for the Celebrity Tournament and he wouldn't stop to talk to any of the reporters at any point! Not even when he was walking. Sound like a real tool

soemthing tells me there is a lot more going on behind the scenes than we are being told. i am going to withhold judgment either way until the real story comes out. I am betting there was a blow up somewhere and any excuse is being used rather than telling the truth. being from Shriner/Mason family although not one these men do not break ties with you over something like that. It goes a lot deeper and Timberlake might not be as clean as people would like to think he is. The shriners and masons have survived hundreds of years working out of the limelight and the major reason you have so many children's hospitals is because they were the first and others followed. if i had to give up Timberlake music or the Shriner's work with children goodbye Timberlake.

I think the opposite is true, that the Shriners have something to hide and that is their secret sub group, the Royal Order of Jesters. Google them and find my investigative articles.

I guess it is too much for him to fulfill a few kids dying wishes and spend some time with them.
