On another note, breaking up in an email is about the same as a handwritten "Dear John" letter. Most methods of breaking up are acceptable as long as they are private (letter, phone call, personal discussion). It's not the easiest thing in the world to confront someone and tell them you no longer want to be with them. A letter is a good way to avoid further confrontation, discussion, etc., and is often used when a decision is final. What would NOT be acceptable is using a social media site such as FB. That WOULD be a "low brow" way to end a relationship with someone. Just because you don't want to be in a relationship, doesn't mean you are entitled to be insensitive. People do have feelings.

Why would she stay with a drug user? Maybe it makes a person a little cold hearted to just turn their back, but addicts don't seem to understand that the things they do and say while using are sometimes horrendous. They are very selfish and only think about their next high...they steal and lie. Sometimes you have no choice but to turn your back cuz you can not allow for another person's addiction control your life. In her case she had to think of her career. Even when an addict gets clean they still are so very selfish and just expect for everyone to instantly forgive them for what they did when using and they want praise for getting clean.
