DENVER (AP) - Some Colorado fans are upset after music superstar Madonna used guns during a performance.

Madonna started her show Thursday night at the Pepsi Center in Denver with a gun scene, which she has used in previous performances.

According to KUSA-TV, the station received several calls Friday from concert-goers saying they were offended she used guns and violence as part of her show in light of recent events in the state that included a mass shooting at a theater during a Batman movie on July 20 that left 12 people dead.

In a statement before beginning the tour, Madonna said she does not condone the use of guns. She said she is using the guns as symbols of intolerance and "the pain I have felt from having my heart broken."

Guns are part of life and we have an amendment right to bare arms. The problem, as I see it, is that youth who are at very influencable ages (also many angry becasue of the mess that is being left for them to sort out as they get older), mixed with images glorifying a gun as something glamorous, is a recipe for disaster. It was like when they used cigarettes in the movies to make the actors and actresses seem more alluring. There were no warnings on the screen of the disassters of smoking. I two most dear to me of lung cancer, both smokers. Used to be a celebrity look-alike and remember once I had used an obviously fake gun that tied in with part of the song lyrics, t as a prop, this was before many of the mass shootings, etc. Had I to do it again, I would have found another way to express the lyric. Little eyes are watching, little ears are hearing. We are speaking without our lyrics and our words. With so much violence, time to rethink what we are saying, even in gest or body language. That's the opinion from this peanut gallery.

Are you people serious? Madonna's show is no worse than anything on television every night. Get off Madonna's back and look in the mirror people. You can't have it both ways.
