Katy Perry: Political Birthday Shout Out -- Potent Quotables

Andrew Toth, AP

"So tonight was a great night! The PRESIDENT [sic] gave grandma and I unforgettable shout outs & now I am officially 28! Best. Birthday. Ever."
-- Katy Perry

After Katy Perry performed a concert in support of President Obama on Wednesday (Oct. 24) in Las Vegas, the singer was pleased to get a shout out from the POTUS himself. Wednesday was also Perry's birthday and the president acknowledged this during the speech he gave at the rally. For her performance the "Teenage Dream" singer wore her ballot as a dress with the box ticked, obviously, for the Obama/Biden ticket.

How interesting that Obama acknowledges Katy Perry's birthday. But, what do you expect from a president who has attended 36 Hollywood fundraisers since July 2011? This man has been on practically every talk show including Jay Leno, Jimmy Fallon, Letterman, The View, and even MTV. Perhaps if Mr. Obama had spent more time in the White House doing his JOB, instead of hanging out with celebrities or going away on vacations every 3 months (17 vacations in 3.5 years), maybe our country wouldn't be falling apart right now.

We need a president who takes our failing economy seriously, and Obama proved what his priorities are the night he chose to attend a fundraiser in Vegas rather than planning the rescue of Ambassador Stevens and others who were being attacked in Benghazi. The two Navy Seals held off the terrorists for 7 hours thinking that any minute help would arrive. Seven hours of waiting and waiting and waiting for help that never came. Eventually they were killed by terrorists. Meanwhile, our president was having fun at a fundraiser in Vegas, hanging around celebrities and being the center of attention. How the heck does he live with himself knowing he had the power to prevent this tragedy and failed? This is NOT my idea of a president who puts his country first, so I've decided to vote for Romney who has proven that he is serious about balancing the budget and getting our economy moving again. He started up companies like Staples and Sports Authority, who now hire thousands of workers nationwide, and he saved the 2002 Olympic Committee from going bankrupt. I think he has the knowledge and experience to do the same thing for our country.
