Madonna stopped by "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in an episode that aired today (Oct. 29), gifting the talk show host her very own cone bra and sitting down for a Q&A on everything from tattoos to parenting style. But perhaps the most touching moment of the interview was when Ellen revealed how Madonna's words of encouragement helped give her strength as she came out of the closet as a gay woman.

Before Ellen came out on the cover of Time magazine back in 1997, rumors of the impending announcement led to backlash and controversy for the comedienne. "It was really scary for me," Ellen admitted.

Despite never meeting Ellen, Madonna took it upon herself to give her a phone call, which Ellen describes as "very personal." "I'm behind you. I'm with you, I support you," DeGeneres recounted Madge told her on the call.

Ellen went onto reveal the singer sent her an inspiring quote from the late modern dance legend Martha Graham, uttered to fellow dancer Agnes George de Mille in her own time of doubt. "There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique," DeGeneres read. "And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it."
