Katy Perry, Russell Brand Awkward Encounter at Lakers Game (PHOTOS)

Avoiding one's ex is always a complicated issue -- even more so for a pop star like Katy Perry. The singer recently decided to go watch a Lakers game with her dad -- unfortunately, her ex-husband Russell Brand decided to attend the same game! The Staples Center was packed on Tuesday night as the Los Angeles Lakers took on the Dallas Mavericks and hopefully the crowd helped serve as a buffer for the recently split pair.

The "Teenage Dream" singer looked stunning in a purple leopard print dress, a skin-tight number that gave the cheerleaders a run for their money, but Brand was looking a little LA casual in gray skinny jeans and a sleeveless leather vest.

Though Perry had her dad by her side for emotional support, Brand seemed to be accompanying two young boys to the game. David Beckham and his teammate Robbie Keane were also watching the game, along with "The Voice" judge Adam Levine. Brand, who has recently been seen hanging out with Victoria Beckham, headed over to seek some solace with his UK pals.

Katy must have found something inspiring at the game -- whether it was the basketball or the awkward tension -- because she was spotted later on that evening hitting the studio. If new tracks are the results of this awkward encounter, then at least her fans will benefit!

What the heck. This article does not say they hooked up, it says that they attended that same game and sat on opposite sides of the stadium. So they go to the same places at the same time. It happens to regular folks to you know. Why is this even news?!

I think RBrand is much smarter than ditzy Perry. He's obviously very intelligent and eccentric. I think he's kinda sweet and funny. She was way too dull witted for him.

This is the same guy on a radio show in England he was doing, once said he was going to try a homosexual encounter in a restroom and did so with it recorded. Maybe he hs now coming out. Never understood why Katy Perry would marry a guy that wanted to try gay sex "one time". He must have been in denial.
