Lady Gaga: 'Adele Is Bigger Than Me,' Pop Star Slams Weight Critics

Lady Gaga has some choice words for her weight gain critics, and she's dragging Adele into the conversation reports Britain's The Sun. The recent backlash over Mother Monster's weight gain prompted her to probe deeper into what drives the media's fascination with her body.

"I thought, well I don't really care if they think I'm fat, because, quite honestly, I did gain about 30 pounds," Gaga admitted in an interview with Stylist magazine. But then, she brought up her fellow chart-topper's weight as well. "Adele is bigger than me, how come nobody says anything about it? She's so wonderful and I think her confidence is something I have to match. She has set the bar very high for a lot of women."

Gaga doesn't seem to be slamming Adele here, but questioning the priorities of the media. She has been on the record as an Adele fan for a while, and it seems her concern is more with the importance placed on the scrutiny of her body, and how this will affect her young fans.

"I was acutely aware of some photos on the internet -- my mom called me and was like, 'Did you gain weight?' -- everybody was telling me about it, and I didn't really care. But when I heard it was on the news, where they talk about wars, the economy crashing and the election -- I just thought, 'This is f---ing ridiculous.' I mean, what kind of example is that to a young girl sitting at home?"

It does seem a little bizarre that the same platform that discusses disasters like the recent devastation from Hurricane Sandy would also be covering the "Poker Face" singer's body.

To fight back, Lady Gaga also announced she is launching a campaign to encourage others to be less judgmental. The movement called Body Revolution will be run through her website LittleMonsters.com. Adele has yet to respond to the situation, odds are she is more concerned with caring for her newborn son.

gaga says "I just thought, 'This is f---ing ridiculous.' I mean, what kind of example is that to a young girl sitting at home?".....What kind of example?....What kind of example is running around in your underwear, cursing about everything, and wearing ....who knows what it is?

Ugh, come on Gaga, why did you have to drag Adele into this? Isn't that doing exactly what you're protesting against? People harrassing you about what you weigh? Come on...although you are talented in your own right, you are not as rawly talented as Adele is. Disappointed.

Adele - Her Amazing Voice Wow What a Beautiful Lady She is , she has Beauty Pouring from the Inside .
I wish People would stop taking about her weight , She is Beautiful like she is . I love how she styles her hair , and the Blonde color. And her makeup. Everyone Loves Adele and her Music. And no one has the right to talk about her or her newborn son. And Lady Gaga making the Statement 'Adele is Bigger than me ' ( was wrong ) .

You nailed it. Adele is gorgeous and her talent is unsurpassed by just about anyone else, really. She's also smart and classy and rarely responds to crap written about her. She only wants to sing and go about her life normally. Not make waves and speak against other artists. Lady Gaga wishes she had even 1 ounce of the raw talent Adele does.

You guys missed the point. Saying Adele was bigger than her was a FACT she was using as an example of people picking and choosing who they attack. Adele is bigger than her, and she wasn't talking smack about her, she was praising her confidence despite it.

If I had a young child and wanted some clowns for his/her birthday party, I would call in GaGa, Madonna, Nicky Minage( spellng?). She doesn't need to address her weight, she needs to address her morals and sanity.

I do not get Nicki Minaj at all, that woman has absolutely NO talent. She can't sing, she calls herself a rapper. Blech, she just is plain weird and hardly a role model for young girls. I still cannot believe American Idol signer her to be a judge. How can someone without talent be up there judging other people's talent? Shame.

People don't like when someone changes his/her appearance if they deem it a negative change. Whether it's gaining weight, aging, or even changing a hairstyle. I don't think it affects her voice but it does impact her image. 30 pounds is a lot of weight to gain in a year or less so I think it was a shock at first to see her with the double chin at that concert last month. It must be alot more unsettling to her than to anyone else. I feel bad for her and hope she can influence other people dealing with eating disorders.
