Melanie Brown: Restraining Order Granted Against Threatening Paparazzo

Scary Spice has come out on top after a rather scary incident with an overzealous paparazzo. Spice Girl Melanie Brown has been granted a restraining order against Jamie Fawcett, an Australian photographer who allegedly threatened the British pop star's life.

Mel B was down under fulfilling her duties as a judge on "The X Factor Australia" when she and her husband Stephen Belafonte were allegedly ambushed while kayaking in Sydney Harbour last week. Brown appeared in Waverley Court and claimed the unwelcome shutterbug created "big waves" with his boat while circling her in an attempt to take pictures.

A war of words between Mel B's husband and the photographer ensued, during which Fawcett allegedly said, "You don't know you are f--king with. I will kill you."

Fawcett did not appear in court, but told the Daily Telegraph the allegations against him were "completely without basis." Furthermore, he says the temporary restraining order against him is "hardly a victory" for Brown and Belafonte. "The whole point of [this order] is that I can continue to do my job," the paparazzo said. "Including taking pictures of any celebrity, but particularly Mel B."

Fawcett and Brown are due back in court on Nov. 22. Until then, the photographer has been ordered to stay at least 160 feet away from the singer and her family.

This isn't the first time Fawcett has faced legal action from one of his celebrity subjects. He's the same paparazzo Nicole Kidman accused of planting a recording device outside of her Sydney home back in 2005. They eventually reached an out-of-court settlement.

I think all photographers (paparazzo) should stay at least 160 feet away at all times. Their should be stiff laws to prevent paparazzo from getting to close to any one.
