According to The Hollywood Reporter, the singer is reaching a deal with publishers at HarperCollins imprint It Books to write fiction. Spears' rep confirmed that It Books is having "discussions" with her.
The X Factor judge's writing plans are being compared to Lauren Conrad's books, which are fictionalized versions of her own life on the MTV series, The Hills.
Spears has previously said how important reading is to her. "Every night, I have to read a book, so that my mind will stop thinking about things that I stress about," she shared.
The news comes a few days after a judge dismissed ex-manager Sam Lutfi's libel and breach-of- contract lawsuit against the Spears family.
